Spain Digital Nomad Visa: Full Requirements and Checklist for 2025

A detailed checklist of every document and requirement for Spain's Digital Nomad Visa application.

Spain's Digital Nomad Visa (Visado para Teletrabajadores de Carácter Internacional) has attracted tens of thousands of applications since its launch in 2023. For Middle Eastern remote workers, it offers a direct route to European residency without the investment requirements of the Golden Visa or the restrictions of the Non-Lucrative Visa. Here is a comprehensive requirements checklist for 2025.

Income Requirements

Minimum gross monthly income of at least 200% of Spain's minimum interprofessional wage. In 2025, this is approximately €2,646/month (net income from remote work). Up to 20% of income from Spanish clients is permitted. Income can be demonstrated through employment contracts, invoices, bank statements, and accountant's certificates.

Employment/Self-Employment Requirements

Employed applicants: employment contract with a company registered outside Spain, at least 3 months prior to application, confirming remote working arrangement. Self-employed applicants: registered business in your country of residence or multiple client relationships, with invoices and contracts demonstrating at least 3 months of activity for clients primarily based outside Spain.

Document Checklist

Required: (1) Valid passport (12+ months validity); (2) Completed visa application form; (3) Passport-format photographs; (4) Employment contract or proof of self-employment; (5) Last 3 months' bank statements; (6) Criminal background certificate (apostilled and translated); (7) Private health insurance (full Spain coverage, no co-payments); (8) Proof of accommodation in Spain.

Criminal Background Certificates

You need a certificate from every country of residence in the past 5 years. For UAE residents: UAE police clearance from Dubai Police or ADPOC (must be notarised and apostilled by UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs). For Iranian nationals: certificate from Iran's Ministry of Justice. For Saudi residents: from Saudi Ministry of Interior. All must be translated into Spanish by a sworn translator.

Health Insurance

The policy must: be issued by a company authorised to operate in Spain, cover all medical expenses in Spain with no co-payments or deductibles, be valid for the entire duration of the visa (at least 1 year). We work with several insurers who provide policies in the exact format required by Spanish consulates.
